What are the A / MX / CNAME DNS records?

Answer:

If you hold a domain name with another provider and wish to use it with Ramsu hosting services, you will need to either:

  1. Point the domain at our name servers (ns1.ramsu.co.nz & ns2.ramsu.co.nz)
    or
  2. Create DNS records

We recommend creating the following DNS records:

Mail (MX): mail.ramsu.co.nz - Priority 10

Web (CNAME):
www - web.ramsu.co.nz
* (wildcard) - web.ramsu.co.nz

We suggest using a CNAME record, rather than an A record, as this means you will not be effected should we need to change any of our IP addresses
